"Dulcie Everett!"
Someone shouted and pointed to the end of the stairs. The noisy crowd was taken aback and wondered, "Dulcie? Why is she here?"
"Dulcie is the most beloved granddaughter of the king in Kaunios, but Medton goes downhill now. Nobody wants to get entangled with such a country. Everybody hits a man who is down. Since the king of Kaunios is on his sickbed, why did Dulcie come here?" Someone looked confused.
"She may want to attach herself to some princess from other countries through this wedding to help Kaunios out."
Steward Rodney, the son of a count, and Helma Franco, a princess, got married today. The royal families of different countries came to celebrate this marriage. Dulcie among the crowd was eye-catching. It seemed she didn't hear the heated discussion as her eyes were fixed on the couple who came into the hall slowly.
Steward looked elegant as his league did. However, Dulcie knew that he was nothing but a hypocrite. Helma stood beside Steward with a complacent smile on her face.
Dulcie slowly walked to Steward in her high heels. "Steward, my toast for you." Dulcie handed Steward one glass of red wine with a decent smile. She appeared at this wedding because Steward kept dodging her.
Steward looked at Dulcie in a daze. Dulcie whispered to Steward in his ear with a smile, "Steward, accept my conditions immediately if you don't want me to expose your infringement of our engagement."
Dulcie's grandfather got a stab in the back and lost his authority and rights overnight. Now, the doctors who used to serve the royal family refused to treat him.
Dulcie tried every way and managed to send her grandfather to a hospital. However, the doctors there made things difficult for her and sent her sky-high medical bills. Dulcie had no way out but to seek help from Steward.
"Dulcie, you are not like that." Steward frowned after the shock.
Looking at the indifferent man before her and hearing his impatient tone, Dulcie couldn't help clutching the glass in her hand. "Steward, we have been in a relationship for three years. Don't you know me? Kaunios goes downhill, so what can't I do to save my grandfather? Moreover, don't you choose Helma over me because my family is doomed?"
Steward shook his wine glass with a cold light on his handsome face. "Dulcie, I hope you stop there."
This speech shocked Dulcie. She smiled bitterly after noticing the contemptuous or sympathetic gazes from the crowd. Dulcie raised her glass in the air, toasted the crowd, and drank up her wine.
"What am I expecting? Steward doesn't want to talk with me at all. Who will go against a stronger country?" Dulcie thought.
Dulcie lowered her head with a frown. Right then, Dulcie got a push from behind. She staggered, stepped on the hem of her dress, and then fell to the ground with her wine glass.
The wine glass broke into pieces, and some fragments of glass cut into Dulcie's palm. Dulcie got all the attention of the crowd.
Dulcie shivered from the pain. Her face turned pale, and her palm was full of blood. However, Dulcie still gritted her teeth. She thought, "I am Dulcie and I represent the whole royal family. I can't become a laughing stock here."
Sweats were all over her forehead and blurred her vision. Right then, a clear and unfamiliar voice sounded in the hall.
"Need a hand?"
